What happens
Gildersleeve and his neighbor Leila Ransom, both feeling their age, are visited by the Judge, who urges Leila to invest her small inheritance in an annuity. The pair dismiss the idea of growing old and decide to spend some money instead. Their attempt to recapture their youth leads them to a film starring Dink Stevens at the Majestic, where Leila questions whether she still enjoys movies at all. The Great Gildersleeve, a radio comedy, was first broadcast on NBC on January 27, 1946, starring Harold Peary and Lillian Randolph.
Summerfield, a small town, in the 1940s

Listen for: Leila's realisation that she feels too old for the movies, and Gildersleeve's reluctance to admit he is getting older
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
