What happens

Leroy and his uncle, the Great Gildersleeve, get ready for the first day of school in Summerfield, and the morning goes badly from the start. On the drive to school, Gildersleeve bumps the car of an attractive woman, and the two exchange a lingering glance. He learns she is Paula Winthrop, sister of his neighbor Mr. Bullard. Later, Leroy's bicycle wheel is damaged by Winthrop's daughter, Babs, and Gildersleeve crosses the street to apologize, hoping for a chance to meet Paula. The episode is part of the long-running NBC series The Great Gildersleeve, first broadcast on September 19, 1951. Harold Peary and Willard Waterman, a cast member, take the lead roles.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
