The shop salesman, Sam Slepperman, sells him a chair that arrives in the wrong color, and the family gets tangled in a string of deliveries, swaps and mix-ups. Meanwhile Judge Hooker and Gildersleeve trade accusations over a borrowed umbrella, and the household scrambles to keep the gift a secret. Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
