What happens
Marjorie Forrester is engaged to Bronco Thompson, and the Great Gildersleeve sets about writing the family's announcement for the Summerfield newspaper. He stresses his own prominence and knows little about the groom's family. When the announcement appears, Gildersleeve is pleased with how it reads, though Bronco's father is described in ways he had not expected. Ahead of a dinner at the Thompsons' home, Gildersleeve worries he will be out of his depth discussing art, so he borrows Marjorie's library card to read up. The series, starring Harold Peary, is heard on NBC, and this episode aired on January 4, 1950.

Listen for: Gildersleeve's newspaper announcement and the dinner at the Thompsons' home
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
