What happens
The Great Gildersleeve, the busy water commissioner of Summerfield, plans a romantic evening with his pretty nurse, Katie Milford, after a dance date fails to hold her attention away from the hospital. Gildersleeve hopes a home-cooked dinner in his own house will help. As the Summerfield household rearranges itself for his plan, his niece Marjorie and nephew Leroy head out for the evening, the housekeeper Bertie is sent off for the day, and Gildersleeve shops for steaks, candles and dessert. The series aired on NBC, and this 1950 episode of The Great Gildersleeve stars Harold Peary, with Willard Waterman, Lillian Randolph and Lurene Tuttle in the cast.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
