What happens
Great Gildersleeve receives a letter from Brinkerhoff, a former All-American football player and old college chum, introducing his son Larry, who has just graduated and is starting out in Summerfield. Gildersleeve invites the young man to dinner at his house, where his niece Marjorie reluctantly agrees to help entertain him. The household scrambles over the dinner menu, and Gildersleeve tells the guests stories of his own college days, including a memorable blind date and a fraternity prank. The episode is from the NBC radio series The Great Gildersleeve, first broadcast on November 15, 1942, starring Harold Peary.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
