What happens
Gildersleeve notices a hearse and then a party being set up across the street at the Bullards' house, and the family quickly takes sides in the matter. Marjorie is upset at being left out of Marshall Bullard's dance for his classmates, and Leroy stirs up the quarrel with his remarks. Gildersleeve decides to take Marjorie and Leroy to Schultz's Park instead, while Leila and Gildersleeve's household weigh their own plans for the evening. The Great Gildersleeve is a radio comedy series, and this episode first aired on NBC on June 17, 1945, with Harold Peary in the title role, alongside Willard Waterman, Lillian Randolph and Lurene Tuttle.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
