What happens
Throckmorton P. Gildersleeve spends the Labor Day weekend relaxing on his front porch, refusing to go anywhere. His nephew Leroy and his ward Marjorie press him to join a trip to Grass Lake, and neighbors such as Peavey and Judge Hooker keep dropping by with their own plans. Gildersleeve insists he will stay put. The Great Gildersleeve is a radio comedy from NBC, first broadcast on September 2, 1945, starring Harold Peary.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
