What happens

Gildersleeve, the Summerfield Water Commissioner, has been rushing home on Tuesdays and Fridays, hoping to see Miss Piper, Leroy's new piano teacher. At a tea with his household, he invites her to a picnic at Toomey's Woods, where they relax and talk, and they begin trading nicknames and bird names. Gildersleeve also meets Judge Hooker, a fellow who makes his interest in Miss Piper obvious. The series, a Kraft-sponsored comedy from NBC, first aired on April 9, 1947, and stars Harold Peary.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
