What happens

Fred Allen hosts his comedy program with guest Charlie Cantor, star of Duffy's Tavern, in a 1946 broadcast from CBS and NBC. Allen and his regular troupe, including Portland Hoffa, Minerva Pious and Kenny Delmar, trade jokes about candy, a French radio exchange, and horse racing. Titus Moody and Mrs. Nussbaum each share gripes about the track, and Senator Claghorn boasts about campaigning in the South. Allen then runs a mock wedding segment, in which a bridegroom named Finnegan and his bride Eulis Slinger receive absurd gifts and comic prizes from the show. The broadcast is a light, sketch-based variety program built on running gags and playful banter.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
