What happens

Fred Allen, a hypochondriac and easy mark, visits a doctor who keeps prescribing odd remedies. Following the doctor's advice, Fred heads for Lost Lake, and at each shop he is talked into buying far more gear than he needs: an outboard motor, a collapsible rubber village, a diesel pump, a moose call, an Indian guide and finally a landing barge with a Marine crew. The scene is built on the salesmen's pitches and Fred's growing exasperation. The series is Fred Allen, and this version of the episode aired on March 24, 1946, with Fred Allen, Portland Hoffa, Kenny Delmar and Minerva Pious in the cast.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
