What happens

Fred Allen opens the show with topical jokes about Mexican baseball league owners and Brooklyn, then talks with Portland Hoffa about a driving class and a pedestrian safety class. Senator Claghorn, played by Kenny Delmar, appears on his way to Dallas for Claghorn Day, and Mr. Moody, Mrs. Nussbaum and others describe their trips to Coney Island. Later Fred Allen visits a hotel room where a man named Sidney Green Street, a Hollywood actor, says he wants to end his life, and the episode turns to a Cairo jewel that a beggar sells to a fat man. The broadcast is from Fred Allen's 1946 series on CBS and NBC, aired May 12, 1946.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
