What happens

Fred Allen and Portland Hoffa host a comic variety broadcast during Foot Health Week, trading jokes with their neighbors on the show. Phil Harris arrives in New York with a plan to get onto the quiz program Information, Please, and Allen gives him a tour of the studio and its orchestra. Senator Claghorn, Titus Moody and Mrs. Nussbaum each offer their own views on road safety and automobile accidents. The broadcast is built around a series of comic sketches, songs and visits between the characters from one scene to the next.

A radio studio and the fictional neighborhood of Allen's Alley, New York, during Foot Health Week.

Listen for: Phil Harris's visit to the studio, where he mistakes the orchestra's instruments for odd objects, and Senator Claghorn's comic speeches about the South and the North.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
