What happens
A naturalist named Mr. Quiring arrives at Fort Laramie with his wife and niece Gussie to study Indians and nature. Captain Quince struggles to manage the energetic family as they teach the local tribe about basket-making, tribal dances, and fire-making, while pursuing their own interests in ornithology and outdoor expeditions.
Fort Laramie cavalry fort and surrounding rocky terrain
Characters: Captain Quince, Mr. Quiring, Mrs. Quaring, Gussie, Major, Indian Agent
Listen for: A mix of military life and the chaos caused by enthusiastic amateur naturalists; discussion of bird identification and outdoor adventures; the frustration of cavalry officers trying to manage civilian guests.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
