What happens

Fibber McGee and Molly search their cluttered living room for a missing screwdriver after Fibber drags his tool chest up from the basement. Molly grows impatient as Fibber sorts through odd items and recalls past mishaps, including a damaged camera that leads Mrs. Uppington to offer a box of watercolors. Fibber then sets off to the hardware store, where a clerk and a series of customers complicate the simple purchase. Back home, the search turns up a neighbor's old screwdriver and a row of unexpected visitors. The episode is from the Fibber McGee and Molly series, first broadcast on NBC Radio on October 15, 1940, with Harold Peary, Bill Thompson, Gale Gordon and Arthur Q. Bryan in the leading roles.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
