What happens
Fibber McGee and Molly find a diary belonging to Mr. Gildersleeve, which a careless maid has thrown onto the trash pile. Fibber is eager to read it despite Molly's protests, and the two of them open the padlocked book with a pick. Their reading exposes the old man's private entries, and the pair quickly become embarrassed by what they have done. Mrs. Abigail, Mr. Wilcox and Mr. Di Pasquale also turn up, each adding to the growing confusion over the diary. This is an episode of the Fibber McGee and Molly series, first broadcast on NBC Radio on October 22, 1940, with Harold Peary, Bill Thompson, Gale Gordon and Arthur Q. Bryan in the lead roles.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
