What happens
Fibber McGee and Molly wait at the airport for Edgar Bergen and Charlie McCarthy, who are arriving for the world premiere of their picture at the Bijou Theatre. Fibber, eager for tickets, strikes an awkward deal with a theatre employee named Johnny. When Bergen and McCarthy arrive at the hotel, Mrs. Uppington shows marked interest in Bergen, and Charlie teases everyone while the group prepares for the evening. Fibber and Molly, meanwhile, get themselves ready for the night out. This is an episode of the Fibber McGee and Molly series, first broadcast on NBC Radio on November 11, 1941, starring Harold Peary, Bill Thompson, Gale Gordon and Arthur Q. Bryan.
An airport and a hotel in a city where the premiere of a motion picture is taking place.
Characters: Fibber McGee, Molly McGee, Edgar Bergen, Charlie McCarthy, Mrs. Uppington, Johnny, Mr. Wilcox
Listen for: Fibber's bargain with Johnny for theatre tickets and the trade-off that follows.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
