What happens
Betty Anderson comes home from school excited about her new friend Cynthia Binkley, a sophisticated girl from a wealthy family. Betty boasts to Cynthia about her brother Bud, presenting him as smooth and refined, though the family knows him as a casual, easygoing boy. When Bud agrees to a date with Cynthia's younger sister Roberta, the mix-up grows, and the Andersons scramble to prepare Bud for the evening. Jim and Margaret try to help Betty sort out the tangle, and the family's efforts to make Bud appear polished lead to a series of awkward moments. Father Knows Best, a 1953 episode from the series, with Robert Young as Jim Anderson, aired May 14, 1953.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
