What happens

Jim Anderson, a Springfield insurance man, lands a major group insurance deal and is rewarded with two tickets to a Toscanini concert from the Liggetts. The thrill is soon undercut when the Andersons discover they have double-booked Thursday evening, with dinner plans with the Gribbles and the Smiths and the concert all clashing. Jim and Margaret scramble to shuffle the dates, and the children, Betty, Bud and Kathy, each have plans of their own that complicate matters further. The family's arrangements keep shifting as the evening approaches. Father Knows Best is a radio comedy about family life in the White Frame House on Maple Street, starring Robert Young as Jim Anderson. Broadcast 29 June 1950.

Listen for: Jim's attempt to reschedule the overlapping dates and the mounting confusion over which Thursday is which

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
