What happens

Kathy Anderson, the youngest of the family in the White Frame House on Maple Street, has decided she is a boy named Sam, and the family reluctantly goes along with it. When a cadet named Mike asks Sam to find him a date for a spring party at the Military Academy, Sam offers his twin sister, and the household scrambles to turn Kathy back into a girl in time. Meanwhile Betty is dressing for what she thinks is a date with a cadet of her own, and the parents wait to see how the evening will turn out. Father Knows Best, the 1952 episode is set in the family's home, with Robert Young playing the father, Jim Anderson.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
