What happens
Kathy Anderson shows off a large engagement ring and announces she is engaged to Paul Bettaker, a boy she has known only thirteen days. Her father Jim is skeptical and her sister Betty is upset when a mix-up with a phone message suggests Betty's fiance Ralph has broken off their engagement. Jim decides to play along with Kathy's plan, inviting Paul to spend the day with the family, and the household is soon caught up in the confusion. Father Knows Best is the series, first aired on September 4, 1952, starring Robert Young as Jim Anderson.
