Betty Anderson, a seventeen-year-old in Springfield, has a crush on her French teacher, Robert LaGrange, and worries about how her parents will react. Her father, Jim, and her mother, Margaret, struggle to help with her French homework while Betty's younger sister Kathy keeps the household lively. When Betty's father invites LaGrange to dinner without knowing much about him, the family's assumptions and Betty's secret begin to tangle. Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
