What happens
Archie, the wisecracking manager of Duffy's Tavern, falls for singer Peggy Lee after hearing her voice on a jukebox, and he arranges for her to visit the tavern. Dressed in a flashy new suit, he tries to impress her while the tavern's silent partner, Duffy, remains an unseen presence. Archie's friend Eddie helps him with the scheme, and the pair spar over his appearance and his romantic hopes. The episode is from the Duffy's Tavern radio series, first broadcast on February 1, 1946, with Ed Gardner in the lead role.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
