What happens

Archie, the manager of Duffy's Tavern, hosts a visiting Hollywood horror star, Laird Cregar, and the French actress Michelle Morgan. Eddie and Clancy, two regulars, gather around the bar, and Archie tries to make a good impression on the guests. Eddie talks about horror pictures and his own clever way of sneaking into a movie, while Clancy pushes for tickets to the policeman's ball. Archie eventually tries to charm Michelle by claiming he has been to Paris many times, and he takes on Laird's schizophrenic persona in an attempt to win her over. The episode is part of the Duffy's Tavern Singles series and first aired on February 15, 1944, on CBS, NBC Blue and NBC, with Ed Gardner, Shirley Booth, Charlie Cantor and Florence Halop in the lead roles.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
