What happens

Archie, the manager of Duffy's Tavern, is pleased when Phil Baker, host of the quiz show Take It or Leave It, drops in for a visit. Archie hopes to win sixty-four dollars on the program. Meanwhile, a former forger named Crackpot tries his hand as a salesman, offering shares in the Take A Chance Oil Company. Ed Gardner leads the cast in this 1944 edition of Duffy's Tavern, which aired on CBS, NBC Blue and NBC, with Shirley Booth, Charlie Cantor and Florence Halop among the regulars. Archie's quiz show questions, his dealings with Crackpot and Baker's accordion all shape the evening at the tavern.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
