What happens
Archie, the manager of Duffy's Tavern, plans a floor show built around singer Bob Graham and hopes to win backing from Throckmorton P. Gildersleeve, a visiting water commissioner from Summerfield. Eddie, Finnegan and Miss Duffy help him recruit new performers, and each attempt at an audition runs into comic trouble. Archie tries to coax the fussy Gildersleeve into investing by flattering him and promising him an appealing role. Duffy's Tavern is a comedy series, and this episode from November 24, 1944 features guest Harold Peary as Gildersleeve, with Ed Gardner, Shirley Booth, Charlie Cantor and Florence Halop among the regulars.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
