What happens
Archie, the manager of Duffy's Tavern, tries to launch a correspondence course for learning the piano, the Archie Simplified method, and wants film actress Diana Lynn to endorse it. Eddie, the bartender, is skeptical about the scheme and about Archie's own musical skill, and he and Archie trade jokes about money and education. Archie visits the tavern's phone book and places calls to recruit other well-known names as endorsers, and the discussion turns to whom he can persuade to put their name to the course.
Duffy's Tavern, a bar in New York
Characters: Archie, Eddie, Diana Lynn, Finnegan
Listen for: Archie's pitch for the piano correspondence course and his attempts to secure celebrity endorsements from Diana Lynn and others.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
