What happens
Archie, the manager of Duffy's Tavern, is looking for a front man to greet customers and keep the place looking prosperous. When the veteran actor Charles Coburn comes into the tavern, Archie and Eddie see him as a possible candidate and decide to test his character with a card game. Coburn joins Archie and Eddie for a few hands of Jim Rummy and poker, and the bluffing and banter keep the tavern busy. The episode is a comedy built on Archie's malapropisms and the gentle ribbing of a visiting guest. This broadcast is part of the Duffy's Tavern series, first aired on May 4, 1949, and it stars Ed Gardner, Shirley Booth, Charlie Cantor and Florence Halop.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
