What happens
Archie, the tavern manager, hosts movie star Alan Ladd at Duffy's Tavern, where a steady stream of Duffy's regulars and oddball customers keep the place in chaos. Archie and Alan trade reminiscences about their earlier picture together, and Ladd is introduced to Eddie, the bartender, and a series of quarrelsome patrons. Archie offers romantic advice, and a flirtatious young woman tries to persuade Ladd to take her out. The two men then hatch a plan to produce a psychological thriller together, which Archie pitches with growing enthusiasm. The Duffy's Tavern radio series, originally broadcast on January 4, 1946, stars Ed Gardner and Shirley Booth in the lead roles.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
