What happens
Archie, the bookkeeper at Duffy's Tavern, works on the bar's books for 1945 and cannot make the figures balance, so the figures keep getting worked over. Ed Gardner, Shirley Booth, Charlie Cantor and Florence Halop lead this Duffy's Tavern episode, which aired on December 28, 1945 on CBS, NBC Blue and NBC. Archie goes through the unpaid bills and the tavern's stock, and Eddie helps with the counting. Duffy and the regulars drift in and out of the room, trading jokes and gossip. Archie talks up his past work as a bookkeeper at a fish market and clashes with his own accounts, while a visiting accountant named Smidlap is plied with drinks.
Duffy's Tavern, a neighborhood bar, where Archie keeps the books in the back room.

Listen for: Archie working through the 1945 figures and the counting of stock in the tavern.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
