What happens

Archie, the manager of Duffy's Tavern, learns from a newspaper column that wealthy South American heiress Senorita Carmen Cabana has been spending heavily in New York nightclubs, and he sets out to lure her to the tavern. Assisted by Miss Duffy and the Mad Russian, Archie arranges for Latin singer Bobby Capoe to join the evening and encourage her spending. The plan quickly runs into trouble when Bobby's Brooklyn accent and the tavern's cheap menu clash with the senorita's expectations. Duffy's Tavern is a radio comedy series, and this episode was originally recorded for the program in 1951, with Ed Gardner starring as Archie.

Duffy's Tavern, a New York City bar and restaurant

Characters: Archie, Miss Duffy, The Mad Russian, Bobby Capoe, Senorita Carmen Cabana

Listen for: Archie's attempts to pass off the tavern as a Latin nightspot and the comic clash that follows when Bobby Capoe's Brooklyn accent gives him away

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
