What happens
Archie, the manager of Duffy's Tavern, is worried after an accountant named John Stringer, sent to audit the tavern's books, finds a fifty-seven dollar shortage. Duffy, his friend, suspects Archie of cooking the books, and tension rises as the auditor arrives. Guest Gary Moore, a collegiate-looking wit from the quiz show Take It or Leave It, comes into the tavern and suggests Archie appear on the program to raise the missing money. The episode is part of the Duffy's Tavern series, first broadcast on January 7, 1948, with Ed Gardner, Shirley Booth, Charlie Cantor and Florence Halop among the leads. Archie's quiz-show appearance is the story's centerpiece, and the balancing of the books remains in question.

Listen for: Archie's quiz-show appearance and Gary Moore's questions
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
