What happens
Archie, the manager of Duffy's Tavern, and his friend Eddie discuss Renee, Archie's girlfriend, who has fallen for the romantic singer Jean Sablon after hearing his records. Archie decides to play a prank by arranging for Sablon to visit the tavern, hoping to show Renee that the crooner is not as handsome as his voice suggests. Duffy's Tavern is a radio comedy series, and this episode first aired on December 3, 1947, starring Ed Gardner and Shirley Booth. The evening builds from that setup as the men become entangled in a misunderstanding over a French phone call.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
