What happens
Archie, the blustering proprietor of Duffy's Tavern, finds a baby left in a basket on the tavern's doorstep and decides to raise it himself, despite Finnegan's and Miss Duffy's bemused attempts to help. Archie cares for the infant, struggling with a bottle, a rattle and a diaper while dreaming of the child's future. Officer Clancy arrives and reveals the baby belongs to a widow, Mrs. Rogers, who left it with a neighborhood boy. This is the Duffy's Tavern series, originally broadcast on December 7, 1951, starring Ed Gardner, Shirley Booth, Charlie Cantor and Florence Halop.
