What happens
Archie tries to move a local singing contest from Beethoven's Hall to Duffy's Tavern after Mrs. Pendleton's music club tries to hold it elsewhere. Archie promises her that a famous music critic will judge the contest, but when that falls through, he recruits Finnegan to pose as a German professor, Professor Liederkranz. Archie hopes to get his friend Joseita, a singer from South America, into the contest and wants her chosen as the winner. The tavern fills with members of the music society and contestants, and the contest begins with Joseita and Miss Duffy in the final round. This is the Duffy's Tavern episode 'Archie's Singing Contest', from the series, originally broadcast on 9 November 1951 on CBS, NBC Blue and NBC, with Ed Gardner, Shirley Booth, Charlie Cantor and Florence Halop in the lead roles.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
