What happens
Archie, the manager of Duffy's Tavern, is promised a bar full of big stars by Honest Dave Hosinger, a former crook who now claims to be a theatrical agent. Duffy's Tavern is a 1945 episode of the Duffy's Tavern series, first broadcast on March 30, 1945 and starring Ed Gardner and Shirley Booth. Archie hopes Bob Hope, Kate Smith and others will appear, and he tries to hold his regulars together. Meanwhile, Finnegan, Miss Duffy and Charlie Cantor's Eddie Cantor-style hangers-on drift through the tavern, and Archie schemes to fill the bill with entertainers. Dave's promises start to strain as the crowd grows restless and the show is pushed back.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
