What happens
Finnegan, a low-paid employee at Duffy's Tavern, learns from a London law firm that his late uncle Byron, a diamond-field veteran, has left him a fortune in gems. Word spreads quickly, and the suddenly wealthy Finnegan becomes the target of flattery and schemes. Archie is eager to read him a letter for a quarter, Duffy's manager Miss Archer tries to win him back, and the Duffy's Tavern crew each see a way to profit. Finnegan, pleased by his new status, plans a restaurant and gets his first taste of how money changes the way people treat him. The diamonds have not yet arrived when the story pauses. This is an episode of the Duffy's Tavern series, originally broadcast on April 6, 1945, with Ed Gardner, Shirley Booth, Charlie Cantor and Florence Halop in the leading roles.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
