What happens

Duffy's Tavern is short of paying customers, and Duffy orders that no more credit be extended. Archie, the tavern's manager, decides to collect the unpaid tabs, and in the process is persuaded by Ward Hill McGinnis, a local politician, to run for pure food inspector of the Third Avenue district. Archie's campaign relies on bold promises and flashy publicity, and the story follows his preparations and run-up to election day. The series is Duffy's Tavern, originally broadcast January 12, 1951, with Ed Gardner, Shirley Booth, Charlie Cantor and Florence Halop among the cast.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
