What happens
Gracie Allen's Beverly Hills Uplift Society meets in the Burns home to protest inflation, and George Burns is less than pleased to find his den full of women. Gracie explains the club has volunteered to check whether shops have cut prices as President Truman requested, and she plans to ask Congress for a hundred million dollars. When a telegram arrives with the news that Congress has refused the money, the club members react with indignation. Gracie and her friends draft an angry letter to the government, and Gracie then tries to extract money from George for a new hat. The episode is a comedy of the Burns and Allen radio series, first broadcast in 1947, with Gracie Allen and George Burns in the leading roles.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
