What happens
George and Gracie decide to sell their six-room house and retire, and Gracie takes charge of finding buyers. George insists that the house is community property, which unsettles Gracie. Their attempts to find a buyer produce a string of odd visitors, including a would-be purchaser who keeps offering to take the house for nothing. George Burns and Gracie Allen star in this Maxwell House Coffee Time episode, broadcast on April 10, 1947, with Bill Goodwin as announcer and Meredith Willson's orchestra providing the music.
The Burns home, a six-room house in Los Angeles, and its front yard.
Characters: George Burns, Gracie Allen, Bill Goodwin, Meredith Willson
Listen for: Gracie's mix-ups over the real estate ads and her salesmanship with prospective buyers, and the running joke about community property law.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
