What happens
George Burns is preparing a speech for a testimonial dinner honoring movie star Ronald Reagan, and his wife Gracie Allen keeps interrupting him with her own ideas for the opening. Their neighbors Blanche Morton and Harry Morton also drop by, each recounting dreams about a new car. Gracie and Blanche then visit Reagan's house, hoping to meet the actor in person and gather facts about his life. The program is a light comedy built on Gracie's scatterbrained logic and Burns's exasperation, with Reagan playing himself. The episode is a 1950 broadcast of the Burns and Allen series, first aired January 25, 1950.
The Burns home in Hollywood, and the home of movie star Ronald Reagan, around the time of a testimonial dinner for Reagan.
Characters: George Burns, Gracie Allen, Ronald Reagan, Blanche Morton, Harry Morton, Bill Goodwin
Listen for: Gracie's mixed-up ideas about Reagan's life and her jokes about the dinner speech, and Burns trying to get through his opening lines.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
