What happens

Burns and Allen rehearse next week's show in an empty studio after the broadcast. George Burns and Gracie Allen, playing themselves, try out sketches and jokes, including a restaurant scene in which Gracie plays a waitress. Their rehearsal is repeatedly interrupted by a production man, a musician, and other performers, while the pair trade quips and reminisce about their early days in vaudeville. The episode aired on CBS and NBC Radio on November 25, 1940, and features Gracie Allen, Bea Benaderet, Meredith Willson, and Mel Blanc in the cast, with Spam commercials throughout.

Characters: George Burns, Gracie Allen, Mel Blanc, Bea Benaderet, Meredith Willson

Listen for: The restaurant rehearsal scene, in which Gracie's waitress keeps misunderstanding George's directions, and the reminiscing scene about their early vaudeville years.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
