What happens
George Burns and Gracie Allen stage a dramatized version of the Landing of the Indians at Plymouth for their Thanksgiving broadcast. Gracie gathers the cast, which includes Tony Martin, Ken Niles and Henry King, and the program moves through the boat's arrival, a meeting with a pair of Indian characters, and a visit from a butcher trying to sell turkeys in the middle of the show. Gracie repeatedly steers the scene into comic detours, including talk about Tony Martin's movie career and a kiss. The episode is a 1936 installment of the Burns and Allen series, originally broadcast on 1936-11-25 on CBS and NBC Radio, with Gracie Allen, Bea Benaderet, Meredith Willson and Mel Blanc in the cast.
A radio studio broadcast for Thanksgiving, where a dramatized Plymouth landing is staged.
Characters: George Burns, Gracie Allen, Tony Martin, Ken Niles, Henry King, Ned Shaw
Listen for: Gracie's literal-minded misunderstandings and the escalating interruptions during the Plymouth play.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
