What happens

George Burns and Gracie Allen tell the story of George's night of stag poker, in which he loses money and writes a check that bounces. Gracie, convinced that John Garfield, a supposed Hollywood gangster, will harm her husband, seeks help from a local underworld boss and then goes to Garfield's house. The episode is from the Burns and Allen series, originally broadcast on December 28, 1943, on CBS and NBC Radio, and features Gracie Allen, Bea Benaderet, Meredith Willson and Mel Blanc in its cast. Gracie's frantic efforts to protect George lead her into a series of mistaken encounters and comic misunderstandings.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
