What happens
George and Gracie Burns agree not to exchange Christmas presents, but each secretly buys one for the other. As the holiday approaches, a series of mix-ups unfolds around town, with Gracie and George trading gifts, returning them, and trying to buy replacements. Gracie tries to hint for presents from neighbors, the mailman and the store clerks, while George keeps running into Bill Goodwin. Their plan to save money begins to fall apart as the couple makes repeated trips to the department store to exchange pajamas and a nightgown.
