What happens
George Burns and Gracie Allen star in this 1945 episode of their comedy series, with guest star Alan Ladd. After an afternoon at the movies watching Ladd, Gracie cannot stop raving about him, and George grows jealous and sulks. Harry Bonsell, a friend, tells the couple that the way to convince George is for Gracie to rebuff Ladd in front of him. Gracie agrees to try, and a series of comic visits and mix-ups follows as she and Ladd's character are drawn into the scheme.
The Burns house and the neighborhood around it, with a movie theater and a visit to Alan Ladd's dressing room.
Characters: George Burns, Gracie Allen, Harry Bonsell, Alan Ladd, Mr. Postman
Listen for: Gracie's rapid, misunderstanding-driven exchanges with George, and her increasingly elaborate plan to make him jealous.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
