What happens

Dan Holiday receives a child's copybook through Box 13 addressed to Marina Layton. When he visits the Laytons to return it, he discovers conflicting stories: Mrs. Layton claims her seven-year-old daughter sent it, while Mr. Layton insists the girl is dead. Holiday refuses to hand over the book until he understands why they want it so badly, and that night an intruder breaks into his apartment seeking the copybook.
