What happens
Dan Holiday receives a letter from a woman calling herself Dorothy Simmons asking him to find her missing brother in the city. When they meet, a mysterious man begins following them, and Holiday soon discovers the case involves a stolen rare Dante first folio worth $20,000, a murdered private investigator, and a chauffeur found dead with only cryptic numbers on him.
A modern city with a coffee shop, a private investigator's office, Kettering's mansion, and the public library.
Characters: Dan Holiday, Dorothy Simmons, Susie, Lieutenant Kling, R. Deakin, Josiah Kettering, Carl, the chauffeur
Listen for: A clever mystery involving a stolen rare book hidden in a public library, with the solution discovered through handwriting analysis and library cataloging numbers. The story features multiple murders, double-crossing thieves, and a tense confrontation in the library stacks.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
