What happens

Dan Holiday receives a mysterious invitation with a plane ticket and luxury liner ticket, instructed to meet at Pier 9. Instead, he's taken aboard a yacht where he finds himself locked in a cabin. The next morning, he discovers three other guests have been similarly summoned: Stanley Waring, Philip Clayton, and Catherine Lansing. A man named Mallory finally appears and reveals he has investigated each of them, but his full explanation remains to be heard.
