What happens

Dan Holiday receives a desperate letter from Constance McLean asking for help, claiming she's in danger. When he meets her at a street corner, he discovers she's actually a scared seventeen-year-old girl who has received an extortion note demanding a thousand dollars, with a threat to never see her again if she doesn't pay by the day after tomorrow.

A fashionable suburb of the city, including the street corner at Gateway and Lakeview Boulevard, Smudgy Mary's ice cream parlor, and a finishing school dormitory.

Characters: Dan Holiday, Constance McLean, Barbara Rodney, Susie, Miss Ogleby, Smudgy Mary

Listen for: The mystery of who is extorting money from the young schoolgirl and what threat lies behind the ransom demand.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
